Counting on Culture Workshop
On May 24th, Acting Assistant Town Manager Michelle Jarusiewicz attended the Counting on Culture workshop and training session at Mass MoCA in North Adams sponsored by the New England Foundation for the Arts [NEFA]. Counting on Culture is a partnership between NEFA, Cultural Logic, Inc and the Center for Creative Community Development (C3D) to build new interactive online tools into the New England Cultural Database. The Town of Provincetown was a test and data gathering site [one of 11] vital to building these online tools. Handouts were distributed and an overview of the upcoming website was given.
The Counting on Culture
tool:
·
Measures the economic impact of the
cultural organizations in our area
·
Estimates the potential economic impact
of the establishment of a new cultural organization or a change in spending of
an existing organization
This new database is still
under development and will have a hard launch in September 2006. It builds on,
and will eventually be merged into, the existing New England Cultural Database
at www.newenglandarts.org , which
is a searchable data warehouse that holds over 19,000 records containing
financial, demographic, geographic, and other related information about
businesses, cultural organizations and individual artists in New England.
Administrative Director of Tourism Bill Schneider announced that a one-day museum pass has been developed incorporating PMPM, PAAM, and the Whydah as a promotional piece through the tour busses, Cape Air, and others. Cost will be $12 which will allow one person access to all 3 museums, a savings of $10 and provides a free shuttle ride to the Monument.
