Creation of a Destination Marketing Organization
[DMO]
Ongoing discussion regarding
the creation of a Destination Marketing Organization [DMO] -- comments:
Where are we with this
discussion? Believe that the Economic Development Council wanted to continue
the exploration of the creation of a DMO or rather, how can we do things to
mimic a DMO? What recommendations might we make to provide the function of a
DMO without the structure? For example, could the VSB take on pieces of the DMO
model?
All present felt that it was
critical for all interested parties, that is, Hunter O’Hanian from the EDC,
someone from the PBG [with ongoing transition, perhaps Steve Taite and Gabby
Hanna or new ED], and someone from the VSB be present for the discussion,
otherwise we are spinning our wheels.
