Decision #1:
The EDTF team
decided upon ground rules going forward to ensure worthwhile and productive
participation & outcomes:
Together, we will promote |
Together,
we will avoid |
|
J
Every person expresses themselves as
it relates to the goal J
Reach consensus and agreement
compromise for the greater good—we need to be unified and show support for
decisions J
Focus on the deliverable and outcome J
Watch for ways where we can all
benefit J
Listen with an open mind J
Use language we can understand—no
acronyms - clarify if not sure J
Provide airtime for everyone J
Make decisions! And move on. J
Stakeholders need to be present |
L
Beating a dead horse— keep going on
and on and on and on and on... L
Going off topic L
Monopolizing the conversation L
“Scope creep” – make the topic too
big to tackle L
Being late and staying late L
Not having clear next steps L
Having side conversations & not
paying attention to those talking L
Lacking a clear mission or reason for
the meeting L
Spending our meeting time bringing
people up to speed if they miss a meeting – they need to get caught up BEFORE
the meeting L
Creating damage after the meeting –
bad mouthing the participants and the decisions |
Key guidance: Stay
focused, agree to support the team’s decisions for the greater good, share
airtime so everyone can participate, use 0-5 as a way to see where people stand
on an issue so we can air individual perspectives and move forward, be clear
about next steps.
Decision #2:
The EDTF team agreed to focus on defining the “what” (will stimulate cultural tourism) before lobbying for funding – which was defined as a component of “How”. This lines up with the task force process steps below:
Complete: 6/1 Next … Then… Town Commits(?)
- Clarify Scope - Brainstorm - Key Recommendations - Go/No-go
- Common Language
- Reality check -
Funding needs - Funding
Options
- Working together - Assess impact
- “Socialization” plan -
Structure
Decision #3:
The EDTF team defined the scope of
their work as…
“…ways
to use cultural assets to stimulate economic activity that is:
·
Year-round
·
Sustainable
·
Measurable
and recognizable”
Work in
Progress:
1. The
team reviewed the list of MCC Grant deliverables and clarified their
charter. These deliverables are (directly from the MCC Grant Proposal):
Work in
Progress, continued…
2. The team brainstormed an initial list of cultural assets. This will be used to develop a definition and baseline of “cultural assets” for this effort.
Preparation
for June 23rd Meeting:

facts that will contribute to an objective view of the current Economic
Development landscape.

potential cultural assets and come prepared to enhance the baseline list that
was brainstormed on June 1st.

these cultural assets.
